Beginners Guide to Hiring a Motorhome
· Choosing the right motorhome for you.
Before you decide to book, we suggest picking the motorhome which would suit you and your trip best. Roadtrip Motorhome currently have three motorhomes to choose from to hire. These include our Elddis 194, Elddis 196and Zefiro 690.
The Elddis 194 sleeps four and takes one small dog. Perfect for a couple or couple and child or small children. Our 4-berth motorhome includes an awning and bike rack.
The Elddis 196 sleeps six, unfortunately this motorhome isn’t pet friendly however is perfect for a larger group or family. The 6 berth doesn’t have an awning but does have bike racks.
Finally, our Zefiro 690 – our pet friendly van (pictured above)! This motorhome sleeps six and has a very modern feel to it. Perfect for the whole family including the dogs.
· Research the cost and your length of hire.
All our motorhome prices and availability are on our website. We recommend checking this out beforehand. While they may not seem like the cheapest, we believe motorhomes offer the best value for money. You are self-contained and can make your trip as expensive or cheap as you like! Remember to account for your fuel and campsite fees in your budget as these can be forgotten. In regards to the length of hire, have a think of what route you would like to do and go from there. If you are only booking for 3 nights try not be too ambitious with the trip as you don’t want to spend it all driving. We have a few local routes on our blog which are great for couples and families. On the other hand, if you are booking for 10-14 nights, this leaves your options open for many routes and stops along the way.
· Plan your trip/route.
So, you’ve booked your trip in your chosen motorhome, time to plan the route! We have a few route ideas on our blog if you are trying this for the first time and are unsure where to visit. However, research, research, research! There are lots of amazing routes online and you can always tailor these to you, you can stay on route or venture off route. If you are following a specific route, we recommend booking campsites if you are going during busy season, this ensures you have a pitch to arrive at. If you are unsure on specific campsites, we recommend https://www.pitchup.com/ this is a website that you can search campsites near your location or where you want to stay. It will show you all availability at campsites near you and the facilities.
· What facilities to expect.
All our motorhomes are equipped so you don’t need to leave them if you don’t want to. They all have a fridge/freezer, cooker, sink, kettle, and toilet/shower. However, if you are booked into a campsite use all facilities to your advantage. The shower facilities in most campsites are clean and tidy, this can save a lot of stress if there are a few of you in the motorhome. Be sure to check the campsite facilities suit you and your needs before booking. We’d recommend booking a campsite with facilities to dispose of wastewater, chemical toilet and you can re-fill with fresh water.
· Check out our blog.
